Job Summary
The Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) provides peer-to-peer support services to individuals in behavioral health crises. Responsibilities include offering emotional support, sharing knowledge, teaching skills, providing practical assistance, and connecting clients with community resources. The role requires ability to interact positively with patients and their families, active listening, education, and confidentiality. A minimum of one year working with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges is essential, as well as registration as a Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Registered as a Registered Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Certified as a Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist within (1) year of hire
- Minimum of one year working with individuals with substance use and mental health challenges.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified & Registered as a Registered Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with substance use and mental health challenges.
