Job Summary
As a Peer Recovery Coach at Valley Vista, you will leverage your own experiences with behavioral health or addiction challenges to engage clients in recovery. Responsibilities include conducting one-on-one sessions to assist clients in setting and achieving their goals, advocating for clients' voices within the recovery process, providing empathetic support during crises, and leading community-building events. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification, and relevant experience in the behavioral health field. Full-time schedule with shifts typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification (CalMHSA) must be obtained prior to hire
- One (1) year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members served with behavioral health challenges
- Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
- Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training
- Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance
- Willingness to use your personal vehicle to drive clients and attend meetings
