Job Summary
Peer Program Specialist provides direct in-home services to clients in Queens Village, teaching skills for daily living such as personal hygiene, laundry, apartment cleaning, budgeting, shopping, meal planning and preparation, self-preservation and safety. The role monitors apartment maintenance, administers the client cooking safety test, and documents client progress. It includes teaching self-administration of medications per policy, escorting clients for travel skills, facilitating groups, and supporting recovery goals to reduce emergency service usage. Requires lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homeless services; NYCPS certification preferred; high school diploma or GED preferred. Schedule is Fridays through Mondays, 9:00am-4:00pm; salary around $22.00-$22.07/hr (approx. $45,760–$45,906 annually). Reports to Program Director; located in Queens Village, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience as a consumer of mental health, substance use, and/or homeless services is required
- Completion of or on track to receive NYCPS certification preferred
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Basic computer and data entry skills
