Job Summary
The Peer Outreach Worker will conduct culturally sensitive outreach to engage young men of color who have sex with men and young people of transgender experience. Responsibilities include collecting assessment data, participating in outreach events, providing follow-up interventions, maintaining client records, promoting programs through social media, attending educational programs, and facilitating psychoeducational groups. A GED or bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, and candidates should have advocacy experience and sensitivity to the target population.
Required Qualifications
- Collects GPRA biopsychosocial assessment data
- Participates in outreach/field events
- Provides follow up interventions
- Maintains up to date client records
- Promotes SAMHSA II program
- Attends continuing educational programs
- Facilitates seeking safety psychoeducational groups
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrate sensitivity to LGBTQ youth
- Familiarity with internet/social media sites for YMCSM
- Experience working with HIV positive or negative individuals
- Good communication skills
- Advocacy experience (at least 1 year)
