Job Summary
The Peer Mentor provides peer support, advocacy, and linkage services to individuals in the Manhattan Diversion Courts program. Responsibilities include facilitating peer-to-peer relationships, assisting with treatment goals, providing harm reduction education, and documenting client interactions. Candidates should have lived experience with substance use, good communication skills, and knowledge of the recovery process.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma or educational equivalent required
- Lived experience in substance use and knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills and ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR)
Desired Qualifications
- NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or Peer credential preferred
- Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery process
- Understand the therapeutic benefit of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Able to work with diverse populations (ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc.)
