Job Summary
Lead the multidisciplinary activities of the Pediatric Trauma Program by pursuing and maintaining full development in quality of care, volume, scope of services, cost-effectiveness, education, and research. Organize and manage the overall physician/surgeon component of the trauma service, including administrative duties for the Pediatric Level II trauma program. Examine young patients, order preoperative tests, and interpret results while performing surgical procedures to correct deformations, congenital problems, injuries, or treat illnesses. Collaborate with specialists to determine appropriate treatment options and monitor postoperative recovery while educating family members. Serve as faculty for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowships within Denver Health's Level 1 trauma center.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate Degree
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- MD-Physician - State Medical Board
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association
- PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
- Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communications
- Express or exchange ideas by verbal communications
- Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills
- Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Computer skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
