Job Summary
Evaluate speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive skills using standardized measures to formulate individualized treatment plans with age-specific and cultural considerations. Administer treatments, monitor patient responses, and adjust plans accordingly while ensuring thorough, timely documentation of clinical findings and billing information. Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and the clinical team, involving families in the evaluation and discharge planning process. Comply with department policies, attend staff meetings and educational sessions, and maintain knowledge of current field trends through literature and conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology from ASHA
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
- Must have the physical strength to lift 30 pounds from floor to waist
- Must have the physical strength to lift 20 pounds from waist to shoulder
- Must have the physical strength to lift 10 pounds from shoulder to overhead
- Must be able to carry 30 pounds for 30 feet
- Must be able to push 40 pounds of force for 30 feet
- Must be able to pull 40 pounds of force for 15 feet
- Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office, keyboard and mouse
Desired Qualifications
- One year of previous experience in a health care setting
- Experience working with pediatrics
- Experience in feeding therapy
- Experience with video fluoroscopic swallow studies and their interpretations
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with moderately stressful situations
- Effective working relationships with customers, peers, department and organizational leadership, physicians and other health care providers
