Job Summary
The RN - Pediatrics provides skilled nursing care and oversight in pediatric hospice/palliative settings per the Florida Nurse Practice Act, including assessments, care planning, and execution of a broad range of nursing tasks (medication administration, wound care, ADLs) with emphasis on safe, compassionate care for patients and families. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments with the IDT, updating plans of care based on goals, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication. The role requires CHPRN within 12 months, an active Florida RN license, CPR certification, a minimum of two years of pediatric RN experience, and preferred oncology/home health/palliative care background. The position involves collaboration with the Treasure Coast Hospice team, program development activities, leadership responsibilities, and availability for Nights and Weekends for special events, with a Monday-through-Friday expectation in standard duties. Credentials must be current for facility credentialing, and adherence to regulatory, legal, and organizational standards is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Current and active Florida RN license
- Must be Certified Hospice and Palliative Registered Nurse (CHPRN) within 12 months
- Current and valid Florida driver’s license and automobile insurance
- Current CPR certification required
- Minimum of two years RN Pediatric Nursing experience where physical assessment skills were utilized
- Prior experience in oncology, home health, Hospice or palliative care setting is preferred
- Must be able to handle sensitive issues appropriately using sound judgment, maintain professional boundaries, and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently in the field
- Proficient with computer skills and EMR software experience preferred
- Ability to work Nights and Weekend for Special Events
- Attendance is a condition of employment
