Job Summary
Conduct specialized pediatric and adult clinical psychology services at the Naval Hospital Emergency Department and Outpatient Child Mental Health Clinic in Okinawa, Japan. Administer, score, and interpret psychological testing instruments for developmental and behavioral disorders while providing crisis intervention, acute inpatient care, and outpatient psychotherapy across various modalities. Collaborate with military disciplines, DoD Dependent Schools, and community agencies to coordinate care and evaluate service quality. Submit written diagnostic reports and treatment plans consistent with DSM-IV guidelines within prescribed timelines. Provide immediate consultation for emergent situations and return consultations for requesting staff within 24 hours. Maintain awareness of Department of Defense policies, TRICARE programs, and medical staff bylaws while traveling as required for services.

- Applicable qualification requirements given in Section of the basic contract
- Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school
- Successful completion of a psychologist intern program
- Valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as a psychologist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands
- Two-year post-doctoral fellowship in child or adolescent psychology from an APA accredited program
- Minimum of one year full-time experience as a Clinical Psychologist (Pediatric) within the last five year(s)
- Two letters of recommendation written within the last two years attesting to clinical skills
- Minimum of one of the letters must be from a supervisor
- The other letter must be from either a clinic or hospital administrator, or a practicing physician
- Reference letters shall attest to the quality and quantity of experience
- Letters may also address patient rapport and the communication skills between practitioner and patient and among peers
- Recommendation letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference
- Minimum citizenship status: U.S. Citizenship

- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Maintain good communication skills with patients and other health care personnel
- A thorough understanding of the military lifestyle
- Experience working with military family members
- Working knowledge of relevant military, state, federal, and local laws and resources
- Highly developed written, oral, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to commute to and from various locations as needed
