Job Summary

Prepares and dispenses medications to patients while assessing the appropriateness of physician orders and providing accurate drug information to health care professionals. Coordinates compounding and dispensing procedures and delivers care to patients of varying ages with age-related needs. Requires a current Texas Licensed Pharmacist, ACPE-approved sterile compounding certification, and PALS, ACLS, and BLS certifications within six months of hire. No prior work experience is required, though one year in a pediatric hospital is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Texas
  • Current Sterile Compounding Certification Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved Sterile Compounding Certification or letter from an accredited school of pharmacy confirming Sterile Compounding Certification with a minimum 20 hours of training completed
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing job description
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing job description
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire; for existing employees, within 6 months of signing job description
  • Graduation from accredited School of Pharmacy
  • 12 hours of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved continuing education per year
  • Knowledge and experience with UD, I.V. additives and therapeutics
  • Knowledge of law, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients

Desired Qualifications

  • One (1) or more years work experience in a Pediatric Hospital preferred
