Job Summary
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for pediatric clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral challenges. Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and crisis interventions for children aged 5-11, collaborating with pediatricians during routine clinic encounters. Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior counselors while contributing to the development of new counseling programs and workshops. Engage in quality improvement projects and participate in unit and staff meetings to ensure effective care delivery within the pediatric primary care department.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker [LICSW - State License]
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor [LMHC - State License]
- Masters in Social Work, mental health counseling, or related field
- Experience providing mental health counseling, with a focus on diverse populations and complex mental health conditions
- 3-5 years required
- Proven expertise in evidence-based counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to supervise and support junior counselors
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building rapport and fostering a therapeutic relationship with clients
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal regulations in mental health counseling
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attends and participates in unit meetings, division meetings, and staff meetings
- 75% on site at the MGBfC's Pediatric Group Practice in Boston
- 25% at the MGB Revere Community Health Center
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in elementary aged (5-11) children
- CBT
- Related experience in community health work or early childhood
- Experience with ADHD and behavioral dysregulation
