Job Summary
Lead clinical practice during night or day shifts while rotating weekends and nights to understand specific unit needs. Serve as the clinical resource for direct-report APPs and act as the liaison between APPs, nursing, physicians, and other providers. Ensure appropriate scheduling and staffing, escalating needs timely to the Medical Director and Director of Advanced Practice Provider. Provide guidance on quality and safety initiatives, develop process improvement plans, and critically evaluate care delivery structures. Identify educational opportunities, facilitate research participation, and work with the physician director on unit committees. Dedicate at least 12 hours monthly to administrative tasks, project follow-up, and leadership communication.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification prior to start
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification upon start
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification upon start
- Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence)
- License (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Practice Agreement signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s)
- Written Scope of Practice/Protocol signed by the supervising physician
- Drug Enforcement Administration License (if prescribing controlled substances)
- Prior experience
