Job Summary
Prepare pediatric patients for clinical examinations and obtain vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, and head circumference. Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments within scope, while performing point-of-care and CLIA-waived testing for hemoglobin, bilirubin, and infectious disease markers. Document pre-visit, visit, and post-visit activities in the electronic health record, including immunization histories and screening results. Assist providers with procedures, maintain exam rooms and clinical supplies, and process prescriptions and referral orders. Recognize abnormal findings and communicate changes in patient condition promptly. Work in a high-volume outpatient setting supporting well-child, acute, and adolescent care across varied schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health
- One to two years of Medical Assistant experience
- Knowledge of pediatric clinical workflows, including well-child care, immunizations, age-appropriate measurements and screenings, point-of-care testing, and procedures
- Strong communication, organization, time-management, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to anticipate patient and provider needs and reprioritize in a high-volume clinical environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a care team
- Ability to manage difficult or emotionally charged situations professionally and compassionately
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to speak and read English at a level necessary to safely perform the essential functions of the position
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, push, pull and to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to perform clinical duties requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to safely assist with positioning, measuring, and supporting pediatric patients of varying ages and sizes
