Job Summary
Counsel cardiac critical care patients and families on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document care delivery and nursing processes per standards, obtain patient histories, and perform assessments via observation, interview, and examination. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies while providing direct treatment and management of cardiac conditions through prescriptive authority or referral. Engage in discharge planning and participate in staff and student orientation. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to serve the regional pediatric population.
Required Qualifications
- Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care
- Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing
- Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
