Job Summary
Executive Housing Services Director sought to lead Fairfield’s multifaceted housing department, overseeing affordable housing, the Housing Authority, homeless services, and key federal/state programs. The role focuses on advancing affordable housing developments and homelessness strategies, building cross-functional trust, guiding staff leadership, and partnering across the city to drive organizational excellence in a high-visibility, mission-driven public service environment. The position offers a salary range of $192,833–$258,224 DOQE and excellent executive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in housing, urban development, or public administration
- strong knowledge of affordable housing finance, housing authority operations, grants management, and homelessness initiatives
- ability to develop staff, build trust, and collaborate across government and community stakeholders
- demonstrated political acumen and emotional intelligence in leading complex, public-facing initiatives
- excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills
- experience with federal and state housing programs and tax credits
- ability to manage budgets and drive organizational accountability
- commitment to inclusive, diverse communities and housing equity
