Job Summary
Recruit and train Peacemakers while conducting sessions or appointing Peacemakers with consent of the Chief Judge. Monitor Peacemakers, their progress, and juvenile delinquency matters as part of the Case Intake Team. Assist Tribal members in accessing services, prepare monthly reports, and manage case files through data entry and correspondence. Promote the program via news articles, meetings, and Tribal functions. Implement Peacemaking guidelines and Tribal Court rules, operate office equipment, and occasionally travel for off-site sessions. Maintain confidentiality and integrity in the Tribal community.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- 5 or more years in a related field
- Intermediate to advanced user of MS Office Software
- Case management database systems
- Computers
- Office equipment
- Understanding of the Tribal Court system
- Tribal laws
- Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and traditions
- Ability to work independently while under the supervision of the court administrator and chief judge
- Must be able to meet the Peacemaker qualifications
- Ethics/conduct requirements set forth in the Peacemaking Guidelines
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a criminal background and central registry check
- No convictions of any assaultive crimes
- No crimes of dishonesty/fraud or moral turpitude
- Felony convictions explained to the satisfaction of the Chief Judge and Court Administrator
- Not on or be on any central registry (child abuse/neglect)
- Not on or be on any sex offender registry
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and personal conduct in the Tribal community at all times
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
- Compliance with all applicable tribal, federal, or state laws and procedures
- Occasional travel to attend off-site Peacemaking sessions, meetings and trainings
