PE Teacher - Basketball Coach

Job Summary
Teach Physical Education and coach basketball at Sulphur Bluff High School. Develop and implement PE lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement, and plan for student growth and development. Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs, manage classroom behavior, and sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned. Maintain professional communication with parents and staff, participate in staff development, and comply with TEA/state regulations and district policies. May assist in selecting instructional materials and supervising instructional aides.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training/work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Experience: student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Ability to develop and implement lesson plans
- Plan and use instructional strategies reflecting knowledge of TEA guidelines and district policies
- Ability to work with special education to modify curricula as needed (IEP)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Sponsoring extracurricular activities as assigned
- Compliance with district safety protocols
- CDL acquisition within a reasonable time (can acquire CDL)
- Direct supervisory responsibilities over instructional aide(s)
