Job Summary

Deliver high-quality swimming lessons and training sessions across Nova Pioneer schools, coaching students from beginners to competitive swimmers while maintaining constant supervision for safety. Implement the regional swimming programme by planning age-appropriate sessions, developing progressive training plans, and managing fixtures, galas, and competitions. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and support school teams by scouting opportunities and accompanying them to events. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and equipment inventory while ensuring all pool safety and emergency procedures are followed.

Required Qualifications

  • Recognised swimming coaching qualification or certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Previous experience coaching or teaching swimming to children and teenagers
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students and stakeholders
  • Patient, encouraging and enthusiastic when working with children and teenagers
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively plan and manage training sessions, competitions and events
  • Ability to identify and develop students' strengths and areas for improvement
  • A team player who works collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, coaches and other staff
  • Flexible and open to change, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to identify challenges and take appropriate action
  • Able to receive and apply feedback and demonstrate a strong growth mindset

Desired Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Sports Science, Human Movement Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education or a related field would be advantageous
  • Lifeguard and/or water safety certification would be advantageous
  • Competitive swimming experience would be advantageous
