Job Summary
Assign daily work duties to staff, complete power cable assembly in accordance with standard operating procedures, and verify order accuracy against sales data. Supervise production employees, train new hires on efficient assembly techniques, and maintain tools and equipment while enforcing safety standards and company policies. Monitor staffing and hours to control labor costs, update production schedules, and coordinate with other departments for special projects. This working lead position requires hands-on physical work, including lifting up to 75 lbs and using power tools, within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience working in a production/manufacturing environment
- Six (6) months of experience in a lead position or a position requiring the delegation of duties and work assignments
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 1-75 lbs
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and turn consistently throughout the day
- Must have dexterity and strength in both hands to lift/push/pull, grasp, hold, and squeeze power tools and component parts consistently for 6-8 hours throughout the day
- Must be able to stand consistently for 6-8 hours throughout the day
- Must be able to properly differentiate and identify a wide range of colors used in the power cables/wire/conduit
- Solid comprehension and experience with proper and safe use of automatic equipment and hand tools
- Ability to assemble cable orders using established guidelines and procedures
- Ability to identify bottlenecks in the production flow and work with the team to clear them quickly and effectively
- Ability to effectively use basic computer software systems for cable testing, email, and ERP system data entry
- Ability to perform basic mathematics involved in work orders
- Ability to communicate department staffing, tooling, and material needs both verbally and in writing to the supervisor or manager
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to properly use hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work well independently and with a team of production assemblers in various work cells
