Job Summary
Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, and vital signs monitoring. Perform specimen collections, document intake and output, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics. Report observed changes in patient condition to nursing personnel and maintain clean, safe patient rooms. Remove unused supplies to ensure organized areas and respond promptly to patient and family calls. Adhere to infection prevention standards, safety protocols, and patient rounding expectations. May be required to work during inclement weather or staffing emergencies. Complete required trainings and maintain regular attendance. Current BLS certification and high school diploma preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting
- Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures
- Knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management
- Critical thinking skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time
- Both gross and precise motor functions
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be available for inclement weather and other staffing emergencies
- Must maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule
- Must complete required trainings, as assigned
Desired Qualifications
