Job Summary
Provide in-home personal care to clients in New Hartford, NY. Responsibilities include bathing (bed, chair, tub, shower), grooming, dressing, mobility assistance, transfers from bed to chair, denture/mouth care, feeding/monitoring intake, light housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, laundry, dishes, shopping, meal preparation, bill payments), accompanying clients to medical appointments, assisting with medications (only as directed), encouraging mental stimulation through conversation, reading, games, and other activities, and reporting changes in the patient’s condition to the supervisor. Must have an active HHA or PCA certificate in NYS (training available if not certified) and capability to work in clients’ homes within the community.
Required Qualifications
- Active Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Aide (PCA) certificate in NYS
- Training provided by Presbyterian Home Care for those not certified
- Be 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
- Speak, read and write English, and speak the predominant language of the resident
- Understand and carry out directions and instructions; record messages
- Sympathetic attitude toward residents
- Good physical health as indicated in HR files
- Participate in 12+ hours of in-service education per year
- Complete an approved training course to carry out assigned activities
