Job Summary
Payroll Team Lead responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for 2,500+ employees across four Canadian entities from Mississauga, with a hybrid work setup (approx. 3 days in-office). Lead and perform full-cycle processing, review inputs/outputs (earnings, deductions, benefits, RRSP/pension, incentives, taxable benefits), ensure federal/provincial compliance, and manage year-end activities (T4/RL-1, reconciliations, filings). Provide technical guidance and daily direction to a Payroll Analyst, allocate workload, and serve as the senior point of contact for complex payroll issues. Enhance payroll controls and documentation; support system changes and automation (Power BI, Power Automate, AI Agents); collaborate with HR, Benefits, Compensation, and Finance. Requirements include Canadian full-cycle payroll experience (5-7 years), PCP designation, senior/supervisory experience, Workday expertise, strong controls and problem-solving, and post-secondary education in relevant fields. Desirable CPM designation, multi-entity payroll experience, and knowledge of US payroll; ability to flexible hours during peak periods.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in Canadian full-cycle payroll including year-end and statutory reporting for at least 1000 employees
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute
- Experience in senior, lead, or supervisory payroll role
- Proficiency with Workday HCM, Workday Payroll, Workday Time and Absence and advanced Excel
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods (e.g. year-end, bonus cycles)
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field
- Desirable: Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association
- Multi-entity payroll experience
- Understanding of US payroll
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, PowerBI, AI tools
