Job Summary
Payroll Specialist responsible for owning the full end-to-end pay function across AU, NZ, and UK on a part-time, permanent basis (2 days per week) with hybrid work from our Sydney HQ. Responsibilities include end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for three jurisdictions, managing statutory obligations (AU STP Phase 2 & SGC; NZ Holidays Act; UK HMRC RTI, NI, auto-enrolment), building and maintaining payroll runbooks, reconciling payroll to the GL in Xero, acting as the in-house payroll-people policy and employment-law SME, and handling employee payroll queries with discretion. Requires 5+ years of payroll experience (multijurisdiction), strong AU payroll knowledge, NZ and/or UK payroll exposure, proficiency with cloud payroll platforms (e.g., Employment Hero) and Xero GL integration, and a control mindset to ensure compliance and timely cycles.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Payroll Administration, ATO-recognised payroll qualification, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Right to work in Australia
- 5+ years of end-to-end payroll processing experience
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll (award interpretation, STP Phase 2, SGC obligations)
- Direct experience with NZ payroll (Holidays Act 2003, KiwiSaver, IR348/EMS) and/or UK payroll (HMRC RTI, auto-enrolment)
- Hands-on experience with Employment Hero or a comparable cloud payroll platform
- Working familiarity with Xero general ledger integration and month-end reconciliations
- Ability to operate independently within a part-time engagement
