Payroll Specialist (Part-Time)

Job Summary

Manage end-to-end monthly payroll across Germany, the UK, US, and France, partnering with external providers to prepare inputs, validate outputs, and resolve discrepancies. Reconcile payroll data, oversee statutory filings, and ensure audit readiness while acting as the primary liaison between Finance and People teams. Serve as the first point of contact for employee pay queries and maintain accurate records and cost center allocations. This part-time role offers flexible hours, remote-first autonomy, and a competitive salary, situated within a diverse team supporting global retailers like IKEA and John Lewis.

Required Qualifications

  • Multi-country payroll experience
  • A solid understanding of running payroll across Germany
  • Experience running payroll in at least one other jurisdiction (UK or US)
  • Ability to manage each jurisdiction independently and concurrently
  • Strong understanding of statutory payroll requirements (taxes, pensions, filings)
  • Experience collaborating with external payroll providers
  • Excellent written and spoken German language skills
  • Excellent spoken English language skills
  • High level of accuracy
  • Attention to detail
  • Discretion when handling sensitive data
  • Ability to work independently across multiple payroll cycles
  • Ability to surface issues proactively
  • Confident collaborating cross-functionally
  • Ability to hold external providers accountable when needed

Desired Qualifications

  • French language skills
  • Previous experience working with an HRIS platform
  • Previous experience working with an EoR platform (such as Papaya Global, Justworks, or HiBob)
  • Familiarity with payroll-specific tools like DATEV (or equivalent)
