Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
Payroll Specialist responsible for accurate and timely processing of hotel payroll, including wages, tips, overtime, gratuities, and service charges, with allocations to correct departments and cost centers. Reconciles payroll allocations to the general ledger, supports month-end close with accruals and journal entries, maintains payroll records, processes hires/terminations, and ensures wage-hour and tax compliance. Tracks workforce performance metrics (hours, productivity by department, labor efficiency), prepares reports on staffing and overtime trends, and surfaces insights to management and HR. Monitors actual labor cost against budget and demand, assists with scheduling and productivity standards, maintains time-and-attendance accuracy, and enforces labor-control policies. Requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 2+ years of payroll experience in hospitality, with strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and discretion in handling confidential data. Collaborates with HR and department heads to ensure accurate pay and efficient labor use while remaining compliant and cost-controlled.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Two or more years of payroll experience; hotel or hospitality and multi-department labor experience preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll systems, time-and-attendance platforms, and wage-and-hour and tax compliance
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze and present labor data clearly
