Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
Process high-volume payrolls weekly in compliance with SOX procedures, utilizing timekeeping files, spreadsheets, and manual data entry. Reconcile discrepancies before service provider transmission and manage union benefits check production and distribution per Collective Bargaining Agreements. Resolve payroll inquiries from employees, HR, and managers while maintaining confidentiality. Interpret union contracts, track audits, and process union payments from initiation to distribution. Calculate and process bonuses, special payments, and fringe benefits. Update systems with renewed CBA rules and run ad-hoc reports for local unions.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1-2 years of Payroll experience
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Strong customer service skills (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to strict time-sensitive deadlines
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including proficiency in Excel (lookups and pivots)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Union benefit experience preferred
