Payroll Specialist - Hybrid (On-Site / Remote)

Job Summary
Process biweekly, multi-state payroll and monthly expense reimbursements, including account reconciliation, tax reporting oversight, and voluntary benefit contributions. Manage workflow for timesheets and validate output reports before transmission, while researching and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll and timekeeping. Reconcile payroll withholding, clearing, and accrual accounts, prepare W-2 forms, and coordinate earnings statement distribution. Train teammates on payroll processes and assist with federal benefit reporting. This role supports Spero Health's mission of saving lives through integrated care in Brentwood, TN.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree with Business, Accounting or Finance concentration
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3-5 years' progressive experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable processing positions in a multi-state company setting
- Proficient in all aspects of multi-state payroll processing
- Proficient in payroll withholding management
- Proficient in payroll tax reporting compliance
- Proficient in computerized payroll and accounts payable system operations
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel; Word; Outlook)
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company invoices and determine appropriate GL classification for expense reimbursement processing
- Capacity to perform mathematical calculations, percentage allocations, and quantitative reconciliations of payroll and accounts
- Ability to prioritize tasks on the fly, have a flexible workflow as urgent issues arise, and work well on a deadline
- Ability to cultivate positive, professional relationships with other members of the accounting team
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred
- Experience with Paylocity (Company HRIS/payroll system)
- Experience with Expensify expense reporting system
