Job Summary
Process biweekly payroll for 20,000+ employees through Workday with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Collaborate with Benefits, Retirement, and HR Service teams to resolve complex employee cases and payroll issues independently. Review and process terminated employees' final pay, including accrued time off, severance, and retroactive adjustments. Manage employee overpayment recoupment activities and coordinate with third-party vendors to reconcile garnishments across multiple states. Process off-cycle payments, ACH reject refunds, and one-time pay adjustments while ensuring adherence to audit requirements. Complete taxable stock transactions and adjust time off accruals for scheduled hours changes. This 12-month remote contract offers $30-33/hr for a specialist with 2-5 years of hands-on experience managing end-to-end cycles in large organizations.
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience managing end-to-end payroll cycles
- Multi-state payroll processing experience in large organizations (48+ states preferred)
- Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals including tax regulations, statutory requirements, and government compliance
- Solid knowledge of time and attendance practices and leave of absence administration
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and resolve complex payroll issues independently
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll-related regulations, company policies, and internal control standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all payroll activities
Desired Qualifications
- Workday Payroll System experience strongly preferred (or minimal Workday HCM/Time and Attendance experience)
