Payroll Services Manager

Job Summary
Own a portfolio of managed payroll services clients end to end, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a trusted client experience. Act as the senior point of contact for HR Directors and stakeholders, chairing monthly reviews and approving all client communications. Direct and develop the team through structured daily stand-ups, one-to-ones, and accountability to agreed standards and values. Plan six-month service delivery and annual events, conducting risk assessments before significant payroll events. Present KPI reports on accuracy and timeliness, manage escalations with solutions, and maintain technical knowledge to quality check work and sign off control sheets. This hybrid role in Nantwich, England, sits below the Director, requiring strong UK payroll expertise and the ability to turn around difficult client relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Strong technical payroll knowledge - UK payroll essential
- Experience managing a team and holding people accountable
- Confident client relationship management with senior stakeholders
- Proactive instinct - identifies problems before the client does and comes with a plan
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Experience working across multiple client accounts simultaneously
Desired Qualifications
- International or global payroll experience - multi-jurisdictional, multi-currency
