Job Summary
Payroll Processor IV at Sutter Health processes approved timekeeping records, administers the payroll cycle, closes payroll to the general ledger and sub-ledger, calculates and remits federal, state, and local tax withholdings, files tax returns, and conducts year-end close through W-2 submission. Collaborates with technical, human resources, and accounting teams to resolve payroll issues. Requires HS diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience; knowledge of payroll laws, wage-hour regulations, and payroll tax reporting; strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills; ability to manage confidential information; on-site, full-time role based in Santa Rosa, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience
- 4 years recent relevant experience in payroll
- Working knowledge of payroll cycle and processes and applicable payroll laws and regulations
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax reporting and filing requirements
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply policies and procedures; willingness to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong numerical and mathematical capability including calculations of percentages, decimals, and prorated amounts
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with HR and accounting teams to resolve payroll issues
- Experience with payroll software/applications and relevant databases
- Attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated initiative to improve workflows and processes
- Commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity
- Experience with year-end close processes and W-2 submission
- Non-exempt status familiarity
