Payroll Processing Analyst - (B2)

Job Summary

Act as the first-level liaison between Applied Materials and the third-party payroll provider to manage day-to-day processing operations, including the production of off-cycle payrolls. Validate employee and payroll data while collaborating with HR staff to ensure coordination of deductions, benefits, and reporting. Develop policies and procedures to enforce internal controls, GAAP, and federal/state regulations, and lead cross-functional projects to improve department efficiency. Proactively educate staff and business partners on payroll policies, query and report development, and support SOX controls. This role requires extensive knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and the Workday Payroll Management System.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or finance
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll function in a complex, multi-state organization
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax and payroll regulations in a multi-state organization
  • Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll processes and service delivery model
  • Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to identify and communicate trends
  • Proven ability to build/maintain effective professional relationships and partnerships with all levels of the Company and third-party service providers
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and pressure situations and meet defined timelines
  • Proven competencies, particularly in communications, presentations, multi-jurisdictional payroll, analysis and related decision-making, problem solving
