Job Summary
The Payroll Manager oversees end-to-end payroll processing for all employees on a semi-monthly cycle using ADP Workforce Now across a multi-site nonprofit. Responsibilities include supervising payroll staff, approving wage adjustments and deductions, resolving payroll discrepancies, managing payroll integrations with HRIS/Finance/timekeeping, and ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (notably California wage-and-hour laws and PAGA). The role partners with HR, Finance, and program leadership to drive process improvement, deliver payroll training, and support internal/external audits, while maintaining data accuracy, confidentiality, and timely payroll delivery in a hybrid in-office/remote environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Demonstrated expertise in California payroll law and multi-state payroll
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now; payroll integrations experience strongly preferred
- FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance required
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation a plus
