Job Summary
Manage accurate and timely weekly payroll for field and office employees, overseeing high-volume processing, certified payroll reporting, and tax filings. Supervise one Payroll Specialist while ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and union regulations. Reconcile payroll accounts, maintain general ledger accuracy, and process union benefit contributions and deductions. Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for CMiC systems and identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls. This hands-on leadership role supports a growing mechanical contracting business, with a preference for candidates with construction and union payroll experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of high-volume payroll experience
- Experience managing payroll operations and supervising or mentoring staff
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, multi-state payroll, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Construction and union payroll experience preferred
- CPP certification preferred
- CMiC experience is a plus
