Job Summary
Payroll Manager leads and oversees all payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant compensation for employees. Responsibilities include managing full-cycle payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and commissioned staff on weekly/biweekly/semimonthly schedules; training and supporting payroll staff; reviewing payroll data, timesheets, attendance, earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings; ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws and payroll tax requirements; approving reconciliations and validating payroll registers and GL interfaces; managing tax filings, quarterly and annual reporting, and W-2 processing; partnering with HR, Finance, and operations on hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits deductions, audits, and reporting; resolving escalated payroll issues; maintaining controls and audit readiness; analyzing payroll metrics and driving process improvements; supporting month-end and year-end close and audits; serving as payroll SME for policies, procedures, and compliance updates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including lead or supervisory responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, UKG, Workday, Paycor, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, garnishments, and multi-state payroll compliance
- Experience with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, and general ledger interfaces
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred
