Payroll Manager, Day Shift, Payroll

Job Summary

Oversee end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for 6,500+ employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Supervise, train, and develop payroll staff while managing workload distribution and performance. Serve as the primary liaison between Workday and UKG systems to ensure data integrity, coordinate with ADP for tax filings and payments, and review off-cycle payments and adjustments. Research and resolve escalated discrepancies including tax withholding, retroactive pay, and garnishments. Partner with HR, Benefits, and UKG teams to reflect employee data changes accurately, maintain internal controls and audit readiness, and support system releases. Respond to internal and external payroll audits as needed. Full-time, 40 hours/week, day shift (8 am–5 pm, Monday through Friday).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll in Workday
  • Experience with timekeeping/scheduling systems such as UKG (Kronos/UKG Dimensions) and integrating time data into payroll
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax compliance and experience coordinating with a third-party tax service provider such as ADP
  • Strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations and wage and hour law (FLSA)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly to employees at all levels

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Prior payroll experience in a healthcare or other complex, multi-site organization
  • Experience supporting Workday releases, testing, or configuration related to payroll
