Job Summary
Process biweekly payroll by reviewing timecards, overtime, deductions, and tax updates while maintaining accurate employee records and generating compliance reports. Support employees and managers with payroll questions regarding paychecks, direct deposit, and timekeeping, and assist with benefits administration, FMLA coordination, and onboarding activities. Maintain departmental files including I-9s, safety records, and leave documentation while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment requirements. Manage new hire and termination processes, including background screening and final pay processing.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of multi-state payroll processing, human resources administration or related experience
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage deductions, tax withholding, direct deposit, timekeeping, and payroll recordkeeping
- Working knowledge of federal and state payroll, wage and hour, leave, and employment compliance requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide responsive support to employees and managers
- Must be able to sit for extended periods
- Some standing and walking are required
- Continuous vision required for detailed work
- Frequent hand/wrist/finger movement for data entry
- This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position
- Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Typically works 40 hours per week with limited over-time as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Candidates with experience processing multistate payroll and experience using Paylocity receive special consideration
- Experience using Paylocity strongly preferred
- Experience assisting with FMLA, leaves of absence, benefits administration, or safety programs preferred
- Prefer experience using Paylocity payroll software supporting multi-state payroll
- Experience assisting with FMLA, ADA accommodations, benefits, OSHA recordkeeping, or workplace safety programs
- Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
- Experience working in printing or graphic arts industry a plus
