Payroll Expert (Payroll Specialist)

Job Summary

Process client payroll including maintenance of child support garnishments, benefit contributions, and payroll taxes. Assist with processing payroll changes for new hires, terminations, and raises while ensuring accurate data entry for employee records. Submit daily bank files, handle payroll tax remittance, and prepare reports for benefit vendors. Coordinate payroll discrepancies with clients and the Payroll Director, providing prompt customer service via phone or email. Maintain ongoing relationships with client contacts and stay current on federal, state, and local regulations through self-driven research and professional development. Work onsite in Fort Wright, KY on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with remote options for remaining days.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate degree in business, accounting, finance, or other related field required
  • Consideration may be given to a candidate with experience in lieu of a degree
  • 2 years of payroll experience preferred, with 1 year of direct experience handling multi-state payroll
  • Prior PEO or outsourced payroll experience strongly preferred
  • FPC or CPP designation preferred, or desire to obtain
  • Experience with MasterTax or Asure PTM strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with PrismHR strongly preferred
  • Must have competence in word processing such as Microsoft Word, and general computer usage
  • Must be a self-starter, motivated, well-organized, and willing to learn new skills
  • Able to be analytical and investigative with regards to payroll issues
  • Must adhere to confidentiality policy
  • Must have intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and be willing to submit to a criminal background check
  • Must be available for onsite reporting to the Fort Wright office on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week
  • Must be available to work remaining scheduled days remotely
