Payroll DS Senior Analyst

Job Summary
Senior Payroll role accountable for delivering timely, accurate, and compliant payroll as the SME for complex processes across designated countries/regions. Drives continuous improvement, mentors analysts, supports audits and system enhancements, and partners with cross-functional teams to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and experience. Collaborates with HR, Finance, IT, and external payroll providers; leads/supports UAT and testing of system changes; maintains SOX controls and data privacy; supports leadership in planning and resource management; and fosters an environment of confidentiality and stakeholder service excellence. Based in Tokyo, Japan, with DePuy Synthes in the Johnson & Johnson family.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, finance, accounting, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in HR or finance/payroll operations
- 1–2 years of leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll processing concepts and statutory payroll requirements
- Proficiency with payroll and HR systems (SAP and/or Workday preferred; ADP and other payroll systems advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic macros) and common Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with case management or ticketing tools
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of confidentiality and adherence to data privacy and internal controls
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, finance, accounting, or related field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in HR or finance/payroll operations
- 1–2 years of leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience
- Experience with SAP and/or Workday
- Payroll certifications (preferred)
- Experience with timekeeping systems or case management tools (preferred)
- Experience working with external payroll providers (e.g., ADP, EY, Deloitte) (preferred)
- Familiarity with SOX and business control frameworks, desktop procedures, and knowledge-management practices (preferred)
- Continuous improvement / automation tooling experience (preferred)
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
