Job Summary
Payroll Coordinator role in West Des Moines, IA focused on partnering with the Payroll & Benefits Manager to ensure timely, accurate payroll processing and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include processing payroll transactions (salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and deductions), handling new hires, terminations, transfers, leave, and pay changes, maintaining employee records in the payroll system, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local wage-and-hour laws, facilitating audits, issuing or reissuing checks/direct deposits, processing bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities, managing benefit premium payments, and providing reports and training to managers. Requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, experience with ADP and payroll for large employee populations, and the ability to work with ~200 managers in a climate-controlled office.
Required Qualifications
- At least three to five years of experience in processing payroll is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related field is preferred.
- Experience with processing payroll for 1000+ employees is preferred.
- Proficient with ADP payroll software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a busy office environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to train managers
