Job Summary
Process semi-monthly payroll for all employees using UKG Pro and Workforce Management tools, ensuring compliance with California wage-and-hour laws. Audit payroll data for errors before each pay cycle closes, respond to employee inquiries, and resolve issues related to tax, garnishments, and system configurations. Support managers with timecard reviews, approval workflows, and benefit administration tasks including enrollments, life events, and carrier file feeds. Maintain accurate employee records, support year-end processes like W-2 preparation, and administer the 401k plan. Operate as an independent contributor within 30 days, progressing to full ownership of end-to-end payroll processing within 90 days.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, including full-cycle payroll runs
- Familiarity with UKG (UltiPro or UKG Pro) and Kronos or comparable HRIS/payroll platforms
- Working knowledge of California payroll regulations, including overtime rules, meal and rest break premiums, and final pay requirements
- Understanding of federal payroll compliance requirements (FLSA, tax, W-2 reporting)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for payroll audits and data reconciliation
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to identify and correct payroll discrepancies
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll processing (preferred)
