Job Summary
Payroll Assistant role based in London, Ontario responsible for timely data entry and clerical support to the payroll team, processing and reporting payroll transactions across multiple companies in compliance with policies and government guidelines. Responsibilities include updating employee status in HRIS/Payroll, handling payroll changes, preparing pay-related transactions (regular pay, premiums, retroactive adjustments, benefits, special payments), reconciling discrepancies, ensuring data readiness for transmission to ADP, calculating entitlements during employment transitions, generating payroll reports, preparing year-end filings and statutory forms (T4/T4A/ROE), and maintaining confidentiality of information while supporting the payroll team and Service Canada inquiries. Requires experience with ADP Workforce Now, HRIS, and knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation; post-secondary degree and PCP designation or willingness to obtain; strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or another relevant field
- Canadian Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation or willingness to obtain
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll/HRIS
- Experience with HRIS; high-volume data entry
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and Provincial Employment Standards (ON & MB)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and payroll software
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Clean criminal record upon request
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to collaborate within a team
