Job Summary
Payroll Analyst at Crain Automotive in Little Rock, AR. Responsible for payroll accounting functions including payroll journal entries, accruals, and GL reconciliations; reconcile payroll-related accounts; prepare and analyze payroll reports for management, accounting, and audits; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; collaborate with HR, Finance, and Payroll teams; maintain and improve payroll spreadsheets/models/reports using advanced Excel; support weekly, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; assist with payroll system enhancements, testing, and documentation; identify opportunities for process improvement and automation; opportunity for evolution into more financial reporting responsibilities. CPA designation (or active CPA candidate) strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting, payroll analysis, or a related accounting role
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, and large datasets)
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting, payroll taxes, and related compliance requirements
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- CPA designation (or active CPA candidate)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
