Job Summary

Payroll Specialist at Ceres India responsible for end-to-end US payroll processing with emphasis on transactional accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. Responsibilities include data input and validation for weekly/bi-weekly payroll runs, validating inputs such as new hires, terminations, pay changes, time & attendance, bonuses, and off-cycle payments; performing pre-/post-payroll validations, handling adjustments and retro calculations; processing tax withholdings, garnishments, and federal/state deductions; assisting with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and resolving discrepancies; addressing employee payroll queries; collaborating with HR and Finance to ensure accurate inputs/outputs; maintaining payroll records, supporting audits, and ensuring adherence to payroll processes and timelines. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4–7 years of US payroll experience, familiarity with US payroll laws, multi-state payroll processing (preferred), and experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, or Workday. The position emphasizes high-volume transactional processing, accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Experience: 4–7 years of experience in US payroll processing
  • Hands-on experience in transactional payroll activities (data input, validation, processing)
  • Knowledge & Skills: Basic understanding of US payroll laws, federal and state taxes
  • Experience in multi-state payroll processing (preferred)
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, Workday, or similar)
  • Understanding of payroll components such as earnings, deductions, and taxes
  • Exposure to employee benefits deductions (health insurance, 401K, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-volume payroll environments
  • Exposure to year-end payroll activities (W-2 processing)
  • Experience working in GCC or global payroll setups
