Job Summary

Payroll Administrator to oversee payroll processing and HR functions for a banking-adjacent environment. Responsibilities include monitoring and reconciling timecards, preparing commission sheets, processing a variety of payroll items (wellness reimbursements, referral and annuity commissions, 401k exports, garnishments, SERP payments, stock awards), reconciling ACH and direct deposits, posting to General Ledger and Horizon, generating payroll reports, ensuring accurate W-2 reporting of taxable fringe benefits, coordinating recruitment activities (postings, interviews, job fairs, screening), maintaining HRIS documentation, and serving as back-up to senior HR staff. Requires deep experience with payroll workflows, onboarding, pre-employment screening (PI, KnowB4, HireRight), and strong collaboration with management to support bank culture. Location: Tacoma, WA. Must be able to perform on-site duties.

Required Qualifications

  • AA or BA in business, accounting or related field
  • At least five years professional work experience, banking experience preferred
  • Prefer at least three to five years previous payroll processing experience
  • Ability to use standard office equipment including demonstrated experience using Word and Excel for Windows
  • Previous experience with various payroll software desired
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision
  • Initiative and leadership abilities
  • Must have proven team building skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
