Job Summary
Administer and process union and non-union weekly payroll for employees and contractors, ensuring accurate and timely payments, deductions, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments. Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies before deadlines, while responding to employee inquiries in a timely, professional, and confidential manner. Maintain payroll records and employee files in compliance with legislative requirements, audit standards, and confidentiality protocols. Reconcile payroll accounts, investigate discrepancies, prepare journal entries, and generate reports for internal stakeholders and leadership teams. Liaise with vendors to resolve issues and implement system improvements that enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience in a computerized payroll environment
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment standards, and payroll compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Offers of employment are conditional on the successful outcome of a criminal background check
- Candidates shortlisted will be required to complete the Profile TRAITS Survey
Desired Qualifications
- Canadian Payroll Association (National Payroll Institute) certification
- Experience with UKG and IFS systems
