Payroll Administrator

Job Summary

Process bi-weekly payroll calculations, including premiums and overtime, while verifying data accuracy through routine audits. Manage employee lifecycle events such as hires, transfers, leaves, and terminations, including termination pay and Records of Employment. Assist in preparing monthly billings, reconciling statements for CRA, EHT, WSIB, and benefit plans, and handle year-end processing like T4s and pension reporting. Respond to staff and management inquiries regarding pay issues and maintain employee records. Ensure salary and benefit rates align with contractual obligations by reconfiguring systems and implementing changes.

Required Qualifications

  • College Diploma (or equivalent) in payroll, benefits administration, human resources or other related fields
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a computerized payroll function
  • Working knowledge of payroll requirements, including CRA payroll rules, year-end reporting, EHT, WSIB etc.
  • Familiarity with Collective Agreements, as well as related legislation such as Employment Standards Act
  • Knowledge of Management Information Systems (MIS) guidelines as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
  • Proficiency with software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to data enter information with extreme accuracy under time constraints
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • PCP Designation an asset or College certification as Payroll Administrator (desirable)
  • Experience managing a team in a hybrid work model environment
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural patient groups in community settings
  • Experience managing in a unionized healthcare and community care environment is an asset
