Job Summary
Payroll Accountant role responsible for overseeing bi-weekly payroll processing with an outsourced provider, validating payroll data (hours, deductions, benefits), ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and allocating labor costs to projects. Collaborates with HR on payroll and benefits, audits timesheets (including vacation, sick, holidays, and other paid hours), codes labor hours to projects, reconciles payroll data with job cost reports, administers deductions and garnishments, and prepares payroll reports for internal use and external audits. Requires strong Excel and ERP/payroll system experience, knowledge of federal/state/local payroll laws, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working with HR and project managers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment
- Strong understanding of payroll systems and outsourced payroll processes
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll laws
- Experience with payroll systems and ERP systems (Sage, Paylocity)
- Experience with job costing and labor allocation
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential matters
- Team-oriented and good customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 3-5 years of relevant experience

- Payroll Certification(s) preferred
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
