Job Summary
Senior Payroll Accountant role leading end-to-end payroll accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and close activities. Own complex multi-state/multi-country payroll results, advise on system changes and regulatory updates, and drive process improvements with cross-functional teams. Lead audits and strengthen internal controls (SOX), mentor junior staff, and manage cross-functional projects. Requires expertise in payroll accounting concepts, GAAP compliance, and experience with ERP/payroll systems; strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
- Experience with monthly close processes (journal entries, reconciliations)
- Auditing experience (internal, external, regulatory)
- Mentorship or leadership experience within an accounting team
- Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Knowledge of payroll-related accounting concepts (accruals, adjustments, variance analysis)
- SOX compliance, process documentation, remediation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with ERP/payroll systems (Costpoint, Dayforce) is a plus
- Knowledge of US GAAP and government cost accounting standards
