Paving/Roller Operator

Job Summary
Operate the roller machine on road construction projects and perform paving-related duties in a fast-paced field setting. Responsibilities include daily equipment checks, greasing and fluid level maintenance, safe parking/storage, notifying shop foreman for maintenance, leveling earth to fine grade, assisting with pre-run markings, using a paving lute to fine grade before compaction, operating vibratory plate as needed, shoveling asphalt, directing traffic, and complying with OSHA safety policies. Requires experience with roller machines on highway projects, ability to follow detailed instructions, and physical capacity to handle job demands. High school diploma or GED and relevant certifications/experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with roller machines on highway road construction projects
- Experience raking, shoveling, and operating the screed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
- Four years of experience with roller machines on highway road construction projects
- Experience with other heavy equipment commonly used in highway road construction
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
