Paving Crew Laborer

Job Summary
Acquire tools, measure distances from grade stakes, and stretch tight lines to facilitate equipment alignment and adjustment. Bolts, nails, and block up under forms while leveling earth to fine grade specifications. Operate vibratory plates, shovel asphalt, and assist with pre-run markings before compacting. Erect scaffolding, shore, and brace structures; position, join, align, and seal pipe sections. Direct traffic around the work area as required. This role involves working on construction projects, often transferring between tasks as situations demand. Candidates must fit test and utilize appropriate PPE while meeting physical requirements for lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Distance vision
- Peripheral vision
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Pre-employment drug testing
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of related experience and/or training
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
